WBC Leader Passes Away at Age 82

Jose Sulaiman, the leader of the World Boxing Council (WBC) died today in Los Angeles at the age of 82. It was confirmed today by his son, Mauricio Sulaiman, executive secretary of the WBC.

Sulaiman recently had a heart operation and showed improvement until December 30 when he suffered further complication.

Through the WBC, Sulaiman was known for  instituting the reduction of world championship fights from 15 rounds to 12, official weigh-in to be 24 hours prior to a bout, and the introduction of the attached thumb glove to name a few.
