Blood Money Boxing family, it is official! Luis Collazo (35-5, 18 KOs) will take on Amir Khan (28-3, 19 KOs) on the undercard of the Floyd Mayweather vs. Marcos Maidana event. This is a huge fight for Luis Collazo, who is coming off a second round knockout win against Victor Ortiz. Collazo is ready for this moment. He has been looking for this moment. Having lost controversial fights against Andre Berto and Ricky Hatton, Luis is ready to make a statement and establish himself as a top contender in the Welterweight division.
Think about it, if Luis wins, he could be the front runner to face Floyd Mayweather next. Floyd works with Golden Boy Promotions and Luis is promoted by the same company. Not to mention Luis signed with Al Haymon earlier this month. Signing with Haymon means landing big fights. The powers that be have aligned.
Is Amir a great contender? Absolutely. As I have said before, Khan has great speed and technique. The only thing he lacks is something you can’t teach or train for, and that is dangerous. With that said about Khan’s questionable chin, he is beatable and if Collazo can bang out the same type of punches that he used to knockout Ortiz, then Amir is in trouble.
May 3, 2014 is unfolding to be an exciting night of boxing. Imagine if Adrien Broner locks down a fight on the same night?! Pay Per View would be worth it.
