What’s good, whats popping, whats happening?? Sergio Martinez versus Miguel Cotto is what is going down! With Angulo fighting Canelo, Pacquiao again facing Bradley, and Floyd keeping his fans waiting, this could possibly the most exciting event to be announced for 2014.

June 7th, 2014 is the day Miguel Cotto (38-4, 31 KOs) will face WBC middleweight champion, Sergio Martinez (51-2-2, 28 KOs). The fight will take place in New York’s Madison Square Garden and will be available via HBO Pay-Per-View. Geographically, it is a good setting for Miguel. The Garden is like a home to Miguel Cotto and his fan base will most definitely be present.

“I am very happy to be back again to my second home, Madison Square Garden in New York, to once again make history in front of my fans,” said Cotto. “I will be ready and prepared to do whatever it takes to bring the WBC middleweight title of the world to my country of Puerto Rico.”

Although Puerto Rico is not a country, but rather an unincorporated territory of the United States (let’s be real here though, as a result of US imperialism, Puerto Rico is a US colony and far from free), Miguel would be making history if he wins. With a win, Miguel Cotto can become the first Puerto Rican boxer in history to win four world titles in four weight divisions.

Sergio Martinez’s last fight was against Martin Murray in Argentina on April 27, 2013. He suffered multiple injuries in that fight and had not fully recovered from injuries sustained in his fight against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in September 2012. But a year off does good for some people, look at Peyton Manning for example.

Sergio Martinez has wanted this fight for quite some time now. He is the bigger, quicker, and better boxer of the two. If his health is in question, though, Miguel Cotto will have an edge going into their June match.
