Michael Koncz, Manny Pacquiao’s adviser, has informed boxingscene.com that Pacquiao (54-5-2, 38 KOs) will face Brandon Rios (31-1-1, 23 KOs) in a welterweight contest scheduled for November 23rd. This fight will take place in Macau, China.
Although Rios lost to Mike Alvarado earlier this year, Team Pacquiao felt that Brandon Rios would make for a more exciting fight.
An exciting, but dangerous fight for Pacman. A dangerous fight for Pacquiao mainly because of the chin that Rios brings as well has his youth and strong punching power. Paquiao will have his speed and power, but he also has the trauma that accompanies a fighter who suffers a KO defeat (Juan M Marquez KO of Manny in December, 2012).
If Manny loses this fight, it would mean his third defeat in a row. And according to Michael Koncz, it would be a time to sit with Manny and discuss the possibility of walking away.
“I think Manny’s safety is number one. That’s why it is a very important fight. I think we are going to be okay and have a tremendous win. If god forbid that doesn’t happen – we will have to sit down [and discuss retirement],” Koncz said.
Timothy Bradley, Juan M Marquez, Saul Alvarez, and possibly Floyd Mayweather to fight later this year. Fall 2013 boxing schedule is developing nicely.
WTF is up with Brandon’s pic?? Lol
